Michelle Thomas – RARE FORM OF CANCER
Family Matters fans will recognize Michelle Thomas for she played the role of Myra Monkhouse, the girlfriend of Jaleel White’s character, Steve Urkel. She first rose to stardom though, with her role in The Cosby Show, where she portrayed Justine Phillips. She later suffered from a rare type of carcinoma in the stomach called Intra-abdominal Desmoplastic Small-Round-Cell Tumor. Thomas underwent more than one surgery to remove the tumor, the last one in October 1998. She passed away in December 1998 and requested in her last testament that Muslim Tenets be carried out for her burial.
