El Dr. Pierce Sellers era conocido por trabajar como un científico del clima de East Sussex. Más tarde, se trasladó a los EE.UU. y trabajó para la NASA, ya que siempre había sido su sueño el convertirse en un astronauta. Estando en la NASA fue parte importante de las investigaciones sobre la biosfera y la atmosfera, lo que le llevó a aparecer en el estudio “Antes que sea tarde”, realizado por el actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Aunque sí consiguió el tratamiento médico para el cáncer, él no fue capaz de ganar la batalla y falleció el 23 de diciembre del año 2016
