Beruhigend legte Ana ihre Hand auf den Arm ihres Mannes und erklärte gefasst: “Natürlich unterstützen wir Olive dabei, nach ihren leiblichen Eltern zu suchen, wenn sie das möchte. Wir lieben sie und werden sie in jeder Entscheidung unterstützen, die sie in Zukunft treffen wird.”
Diese Antwort erschien als die angemessene Reaktion, doch sie verbarg die Wahrheit weitgehend. Ana hatte die Frage bereits erwartet, denn sie hatte diesen Prozess schon zweimal durchgemacht und ihre Antwort sorgfältig vorbereitet. Obwohl sie wusste, wie sie den bestmöglichen Eindruck hinterlassen konnte, fühlte sie sich innerlich unbehaglich bei dem Gedanken, dass Olive ihre leiblichen Eltern suchen würde.
