Talvez você não saiba, mas a pessoa responsável por interpretar a versão em inglês do sucesso “Garota de Ipanema”, que alcançou a popularidade interncional, foi Astrud Gilberto. Ela, que é ex-companheira de João Gilberto, um dos pais da Bossa Nova, gravou a canção quando ainda tinha 22 anos. Ela chegou a concluir muitos outros trabalhos bem sucedidos, tendo gravado vários discos em muitas línguas diferentes, mas infelizmente acabou um pouco esquecida pela mídia no Brasil. Aos 81 anos, Astrud hoje em dia mora nos Estados Unidos e acabou se encontrando num outro tipo de arte, as artes plásticas, às quais se dedica com mais afinco nessa fase de sua vida.
