Robert Downey Jr. musste sich in einen Schwarzen verwandeln, um den Oscar-prämierten Schauspieler in dem Comedy-Hit Tropic Thunder wahrheitsgemäß darzustellen. Comic-Darstellungen können für Schauspieler schwierig sein, da es bedeutet, sein Ego zu Hause zu lassen, wenn man es richtig machen will. Glücklicherweise nahm Downey Jr. es mit Humor und kümmerte sich nicht einmal darum, Schichten von Make-up auf sein Gesicht zu bekommen, um ihn in die schwarze Comicfigur zu verwandeln. Das Team, das an der Transformation gearbeitet hat, verdient Auszeichnungen, denn Robert Downey Jr. ist fast unkenntlich. Er erhielt auch kein Gegenspiel, weil er im Wesentlichen ein “schwarzes Gesicht” für den Ben Stiller-Film trug.
