Who does not remember the adorable red head who played Annie?

Among over 20,000 child who auditioned, Aileen Quinn was the chosen one to star as Annie. Talk about lucky! The movie Annie was based on the famous 1924 comic strip called Little Orphan Annie. No wonder a lot of children wanted the part. Aileen talent came from her family and she grew up under the Hollywood spotlight. Her role in Annie made her a big star and companies were demanding her for their commercials. She was even nominated for New Star of the Year and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for the Golden Globe Award, but though many liked her performance, she was sadly nominated for “Worst New Star” for unknown reason. Aileen also then starred in few others but not as big of a hit movies, The Frog Prince in 1988 and Aileen voiced as Dorthy Gale in cartton version of The Wizard of Oz.

It was obviously she was picked as Annie for her beautiful voice, and the Annie soundtrack went platinum in 1982. Soon after that, Aileen made her own album! Her days in movies and Television shows are very slow now as she is more focus on her band. Aileen is a lead singer to a band called, ‘Leapin’ Lizards’ that has 5 members. Unlike other band nowadays, the Leapin’ Lizard’s sings classic famous songs from the 50’s and 60’s.
