Angesichts der steigenden Konflikte in der Nachbarschaft fasste Greg den Entschluss, einen neuen Ansatz zu wagen. Er war sich bewusst, dass die ständigen Streitereien nicht nur die Atmosphäre im Viertel vergifteten, sondern auch in sein Privatleben ausstrahlten. Gemeinsam mit seiner Frau Jeanne entwickelte er einen Plan für einen Neustart.
Er lud die Nachbarn in seinen Garten ein, um gemeinsam neue Regeln für die Nutzung des Pools zu besprechen: Kinder durften an bestimmten Tagen und Zeiten baden, allerdings nur unter Aufsicht. Haustiere, vor allem Hunde, waren dabei tabu. Trotz klarer Grenzen hoffte Greg, durch diesen Kompromiss endlich Frieden zu schaffen.
