Doris Day has certainly taken to be out of the spotlight, after retiring years ago in Carmel-By-the-Sea. Close to the Pacific Ocean, she fell in love with the location in 1956 but she wouldn’t move there in a permanent way until 1981. An animal welfare activist, Doris has always devoted her time to animal care initiatives and has had a number of adopted pets since she started living there. To this day, she is an inspiration for many young actresses and actors who want to get into the industry. Her life story was presented on March 10, 2019, at the Theater Royal under the title, The Doris Day Story.
