She is the only living member of her family—and her family used to be huge! Her mother gave birth to 13 children, yet, sadly, Alelia is the only surviving member. She was born in 1905 in Grifton. However, she moved to New York and married the love of her life, Furd Murphy, with whom she shares three children. Alelia was a very talented dancer as well as an artist and she managed to make her own money in order to pay her bills up until she was past retirement age at 90 years old!
