Alice Playten fue una actriz americana de cine y televisión, aunque también tuvo algunos papeles en Broadway. Presto su voz para My Little Pony: Escape from Catrina y para la famosa serie de Discovery Kids llamada El fantasma escritor. También apareció en el famoso drama policiaco Law & Order. Tuvo diabetes juvenil desde muy temprana edad, por lo que el 25 de junio de 2011 murió de un fallo cardíaco debido a su diabetes, la cual se complicó por el estado en que la dejó un cáncer de páncreas. Tenía solamente 63 años en ese momento.
