Selena, quien era conocida como reina de la música tex-mex, aunque los géneros de ranchera y balada se le daban muy bien. Ganó popularidad después de romper estereotipos al ser una actriz latina muy glamorosa. Su género y su estilo atraían principalmente a los hombres, pero ella tenía muchas fans y además abrió el camino para las mujeres latinas en los Estados Unidos. Lamentablemente, el 31 de marzo de 1995, una chica llamada Yolanda Saldivar, presidenta de uno de sus muchos clubs de fans, asesinó a Selena. Se dice que ella era su amor platónico y que estaba obsesionada.
