In haar jongere jaren maakte Renée Soutendijk indruk als een veelbelovende turnster die internationale bekendheid nastreefde. Naast haar passie voor sport was ze echter ook geïnteresseerd in acteren. Aan het begin van de jaren ’80 koos ze ervoor om haar turncarrière op pauze te zetten en zich volledig toe te leggen op haar acteerambities. Ze kreeg echte erkenning in de schijnwerpers toen Paul Verhoeven haar een gouden kans gaf. Met memorabele optredens in succesvolle producties zoals Spetters en Eve of Destruction, bouwde ze haar acteercarrière verder uit met rollen in bekende series zoals Meiden van De Wit en Tatort. Tegenwoordig, ondanks dat ze minder vaak op het scherm te zien is en de dagen van haar jeugdige energie voorbij zijn, maakt ze af en toe nog steeds opmerkelijke optredens in films.
