Whoopi Goldberg – Born in 1955
Since she became a talk show host, many younger TV viewers might not understand just why Whoopi Goldberg is such a big deal. Her status is a no-brainer for anyone born in the ’90s, and here’s why. For one, she is the only African American woman who has ever achieved ‘EGOT’ status, which happened decades ago.
An EGOT refers to an actor clinching four major academy awards: an Emmy, a Tony, an Oscar, and a Grammy. If that doesn’t rattle your bones, maybe Whoopi’s film credits total of at least 150 titles should do the trick. This is not counting her many stage credits, where she first began her illustrious career. Honestly, it’s about time our good lady dropped a biopic.
