Assim como outros atores que sofreram grandes perdas de peso, John se dizia mais bem disposto e com mais energia para o trabalho após sua mudança de estilo de vida. Além de perder todo esse peso o ator tinha que manter uma séria rotina de exercícios visando manter a massa magra e não voltar ao peso anterior.
